Survival 101 Class
The ideal class for the novice - our beginning class. Co-ed; adults 18+. Start time: Sat., 10 am. End time: Sun., 1 pm. Max. class size: 8. Tuition: $225. A terrific class for those having camped maybe once or twice or three times OR never at all. And definitely a class for the backpacker desiring confidence and wilderness know-how. 101 CURRICULUM
Students will learn the importance of proper preparedness and the knowledge, skills, and techniques associated with the seven survival priorities: 1) Positive Mental Attitude (PMA); 2) Wilderness First Aid; 3) Shelter; 4) Fire; 5) Signaling; 6) Water; and, 7) Food. Short-term and long-term survival will be be discussed. Contents of a personal survival kit will be taught. And improvisation and its creative aspects will be emphasized. Class participants will become a team, stay safe, and learn quite a bit of survival stuff. Gear List 101 HERE. |
Wild Wisdom Class
Who wants to bite-off a bit more? Co-ed; adults 18+. Start time: Fri., 10 am. End time: Sun., noon. Max. class size: 8. Tuition: $300. With the extra night and day, the WW class offers time for additional bodacious Byron stuff. Plus, making jerky and slingshots. WW CURRICULUM Students will learn the importance of proper preparedness and the knowledge, skills, and techniques associated with the seven survival priorities: 1) Positive Mental Attitude (PMA); 2) Wilderness First Aid; 3) Shelter; 4) Fire; 5) Signaling; 6) Water; and, 7) Food. Short-term and long-term survival will be be discussed. Contents of a personal survival kit will be taught. And improvisation and its creative aspects will be emphasized. Students will improvise slingshots and have a slingshot competition. Students will learn how to preserve meat - i.e., make jerky.
