Survival knife and/or every-day-carry (EDC) blades
Military-style canteen cup or metal cup for cooking
Whistle and mirror
Personal hygiene kit (i.e., toothbrush, etc.)
Hat and/or bandana
Pencil or pen and notepad
Extra socks and underwear
Appropriate footwear
Appropriate outer garments
Prescription eyewear
Personal first aid kit
Personal bee sting kit - if allergic reaction to bees indicated on Health History Form
Personal prescribed medication(s) - if indicated on Health History Form

Shelter material and cord
One or two spray bottles insect repellent
Tea, cocoa, and coffee
Evening meal - Saturday
Roll of toilet paper
Maybe a few other things

All gear will be carried in pockets, in a fanny pack or small
waist pack, and/or in a blanket roll. The blanket roll will be
made near the vehicle parking area from issued cord, your
blanket(s), and issued shelter material . A demonstration will
be provided by the instructor. Personal gear will be searched
for contraband prior to wilderness entry. Backpacks, stoves,
lanterns, commercial tents, sleeping bags, and sleeping pads
will be considered contraband items. If nightly temperatures
are forecasted < 50 degrees, students will have the choice of
substituting a sleeping bag for blanket(s).
